bullet Description of Site: Haystack is a steep, perfect north-facing flat-topped 1,000' vertical butte just east of Highway 97 between Terrebonne and Madras. Desert thermals prevalent in summer months. Afternoon strong winds can come on quickly. Evening glass-off can be spectacular. Site is visible from Hwy 11 between Madras and Terrebonne on east side of highway.

Site Protocol: Don't walk through farmer's fields to get to the site. Stay on National Grassland Access. Farmer has been OK so far, but has cattle on this land, so beware. This makes about a 20 minute hike to the base of the hill, followed by a hike up. Watch for soaring eagles off the northwest side, stay clear of them.

Other Info: Nearest facilities in Terrebonne. Must be able to hike to site and up to launch (no vehicle access).

Landowner Information: BLM, National Grassland
